Slash – September 18, 2015

Slash! Seriously, its fricken Slash! Saul Hudson if you will. September 18, 2015 at Lupos Heartbreak Hotel in Providence. I was there man! It was my 4th time seeing Slash with Myles Kennedy and for the 4th time, there was no disappointment whatsoever. Slash made a smart move picking up Myles. He’s so versatile and can sing anything from Slash’s expansive catalog. The show was great. It’s always awesome to see someone as iconic as Slash in a small rock club.

They started the night off with You’re a Lie from Apocalyptic Love which is a pretty killer song which made a nice opener. It was quickly time for some GNR action with Night Train taking the 2nd spot for the night. I love that track, and Myles does the song a lot of justice.

Slash, like always, played his ass off throughout the night. A nice treat for the night was when they played Double Talkin’ Jive which I had never heard live until this night. That was pretty damn cool since that’s such a bad ass song to begin with. Following that gem, they moved into what is probably my favorite GNR track, You Could Be Mine. Such great energy, and again, Myles can pull this one off quite nicely. “When I come home, late at night, don’t ask me where I’ve been. Just count your stars I’m home again.” –

There was a good mix of Slash and GNR songs throughout the night and no Slash concert is complete without a 20 minute rendition of Rocket Queen. This has been a staple in all his headlining shows that I have witnessed. I was also pretty stoked that they played my favorite Slash song, Anastasia. It’s such a great track and it kicks ass live. They finished their set with Slither in order to get some Velvet Revolver into the mix and then came back out for the Paradise City encore. This is always an epic song to hear live. Such great energy and a solid song that everyone seems to love. The confetti cannons just make it all that much better. It was a great night overall. Hope you were there or were at least able to see him on another stop.

About Rob the Concert Guy

I love live music and will pretty much go to just about any concert. I've made a lot of friends because of my willingness to put that extra ticket to good use. I've been to hundreds of shows and finally I decided I should start writing about them. Better late than never I guess.
