Like I said previously, the 90s/2000s bands are back! And they’re coming back around now like the hair bands did in the late 90s and early 2000s. But should they all be doing this? I’m not so sure.
The last time I saw Third Eye Blind was March 3, 1998 where Smash Mouth opened. I remember liking the show, and thought Smash Mouth was better, but Third Eye Blind was good too. Smash Mouth just had more energy that night.

Having not seen them in quite some time, I was pretty excited to go. Plus, their singer, Stephan Jenkins, was also in one of my favorite movies (Rock Star) which makes him ok by me! So let the show begin!
Third Eye Blind at Foxwoods – The Show
There was no opener as it was “A Night with Third Eye Blind.” When they came out, they opened with a tune I sorta knew called Thanks A Lot. It was ok for an opener. They then played some other songs I wasn’t too sure about. One I thought was Had You Learned, but I’m not sure. I AM sure that it was too long and too boring. It kinda killed the vibe for me close to the start of the show.
I sucks the show start with about 4 or 5 songs I didn’t know before playing one of their 90s hits, Never Let You Go. There were 2 or 3 more unknowns (at least for me) and then their 90s teen movie staple, Graduate. Following this there was a lengthy stretch of stuff I didn’t know. I’m not a mega fan but I thought I was pretty familiar with their catalog, but their performance proved me wrong. I didn’t know as much as I thought I did, or they just played stuff geared towards the die-hard fans. Do they have die-hard fans? I even had a couple albums back in the day, so not knowing most of the set felt odd.

Don’t get me wrong, people were into them, but not me or the 3 other people I went with. I found Stephan to be boring, and sorta going through the motions. He didn’t move around a lot, sang mostly mellow songs, and to me, seemed out of key and unable to hit all the notes. They weren’t a stellar band to begin with back in the day but they were a fun band. They came to fame during the big shift from hair bands, to grunge, and then alternative music. It wasn’t all great, but it was fun. I didn’t have fun this time.
They eventually played Jumper, took a little break, then did some silly song about a girl, a showerhead, good times and BJs. But it was dumb. They then did Semi-Charmed Life, and How’s It Going to Be for the encore.
So they didn’t play all the hits. And when they did, it wasn’t super fantastic. Would I see them again? Probably not unless they’re with another band next time more worthy. They just didn’t do it for me this time around. Sorry guys.
If you want to hear all the hits as I was hoping for, and as they originally sounded, they have a pretty sweet vinyl collection out here.
