May 30th to be exact. And Night Ranger opened the show. Night Ranger was much cooler live than I ever recall them being on records. They were heavy, but I still hate that song Sister Christian. They played some High Enough action since some of the Night Ranger dudes made up part of Damn Yankees. They impressed me because I went in with low expectations.
Sammy was the man! 72 years old and still rocking! I enjoyed the banter with the crowd, story telling and just overall energy. The dude is worth nearly 1/2 $Billion. He doesn’t rock because he needs the money. He does it because he loves it and it shows. He’s there for the party. There is no “going through the motions” vibe that you get from many aging rockers.
Right Now is prob my favorite Van Halen song and he rocked it. It was complete with an updated video playing on the big screens behind him. C’mon! You know the famous video right? If not, look it up!
