It seems as if I should’ve started writing about concerts a long time ago. Maybe a good 300 or so shows ago. But I didn’t. Instead, I started writing about them this past fall when I saw a reunited Veruca Salt in Boston. Perhaps I’ll start going through my archives of ticket stubs and photos and write some half-assed reviews. But who cares how a band sounded 20 years ago? Would you even want to know about that?
Many times though, it wasn’t about the band itself, but the concert experience instead. I do love me a concert. With that said, I have a couple upcoming shows that I plan to go to over the next few months, but then I think I may retire…..or at least take a long hiatus. But I have good reason. I’ll get to that in an upcoming post.
In the meantime…my next concert will be to see The Darkness in Boston on May 4th. I’ve never seen them and I hear very good things. Permission to Land was a killer album. I loved every song on that thing and recently pulled it out again to reminisce (I didn’t really pull out the CD/Album, I streamed it. But to say I pulled out the album sounds cooler). One Way Ticket to Hell…and Back was also a pretty solid album that I enjoyed. Hot Cakes didn’t do much for me but Last of Our Kind was pretty damn awesome. I have to say I’m looking forward to it and plan to post an update following that show.
I also realize that I owe you all a post about the Slash concert from September. Look for that soon. In the meantime, rock on and let me know if you’ve been to any good shows lately or what you have coming up. And as always…got an extra ticket? Let me know!
